Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs

So my call for our Happy Songs awhile ago proved to be very fruitful and interesting. They are all on YouTube in a collection (aptly named Our Happy Songs) and can be found

So I’ve been thinking it would be good to do another playlist, as I was recently listening to a song I’ve always considered a love song and then realised it was a tad fucked up to think of it as a love song. I want to know what is your love song, good or bad, weird or so normal it hurts.

I’ll start with a few:

Suddenly – Angry Anderson, this will always be the epitome of love in the 80s for me. Who didn’t want to marry Jason Donovon as a teen. Interesting fact; my sister and I had the VHS tapes of Jason, Kylie and Bananarama singing their hits. We both refused to speak to our mother when she gave them away to charity.

God Only Knows – Beach Boys, I just love this song so much. It sums up for me words you could never ever say. I don’t consider it a partner love song, more a song you could sing to anyone who you hold dear in your heart.

Spade – Marilyn Manson, so this is my fucked up love song. I listened to this a lot when I first broke up with the ex as the line “You drained my heart and made a spade, but there’s still traces of you in my veins” kept playing over and over. Yes, I disliked this man ALOT, but when someone gets under your skin no matter how much you cleanse yourself will you always be left with that little bit of “love”?

So I’ve started, you lot finish. You can tweet me, comment or email me and I’ll get building. A story behind the song would be nice too if possible. I want to know I’m not the only weirdo out there 🙂
