So June in the USA is Adopt a Cat month, which I am all behind. Having recently started looking for another kitty to join my crew, as Queen Dee is getting sad and lonely whilst I’m out making the money to keep her in biscuits, catnip squirrels and Fatboy beanbags, I am all for the adoption of fur babies – I would be a crazy cat women if I could be!
I get really upset when I see cats for sale through Gumtree, where they want £100 for a kitten that has been breed purely for a profit. I’m currently annoyed at a friends brother who has a small kitty who is refusing to get neutered. I’ve passed on various information about the importance of neutering your cat – not just to stop unwanted pregnancies, but it can also help stop female cats get certain cancers.
So whilst looking for a new cat, I keep coming across more and more cats for ridiculous amounts of money and it needs to stop. If you want a cat or kitten, please don’t buy one and line someone’s pockets. Visit one of the numerous adoption centres that are around or look for cats that are being given away, because their current owner can no longer look after them. Give a poor kitty in a cage a home and help pay for the charities work in prevention of unwanted cats.
But if you do insist on buying a cat or any animal, please please please ensure you neuter it. Its a simple operation, takes only a few days to heal and a lot of places offer them for free or at a reduced price.
And if that doesn’t convince you, look at my beautiful Dee Dee (with a bit of Mali) who has been with me for four years and has been a joy every day. Oh and also consider adopting a b/w or black cat as they are often overlooked in shelters.
