Falling in love is something most of us hope to do. Be it with that one special person or several special people. Is falling in love as easy as person meets person, their eyes lock, birds appear all Disney like and then there is a wedding, some kissing and then everyone lives happily every after or is there an actual science behind it?
Helen Fisher of Rutgers University in New Jersey has done a ton of research into it, and tells us there are three chemical stages to falling in love:
- Lust – where we find;
- Attraction – where we find;
- Attachment where we find;
Our bodies fall so deeply into love, that we actually do give our self completely to someone else. The most interesting part about the research is that events that occur in the brain when we are in love have similarities with mental illness. No wonder love can leave you such an emotional wreck!
